A TYPICAL DAY AT CAMP

It is very important for campers to be on time each day for camp.
Mornings will be busy with organizing for the day, grooming up the ponies, and getting the kids mounted for their morning lesson. Late arrivals will only take away from everyone's experience. On the first morning of each session, campers will go through a brief but important orientation and safety discussion and a ''walkaround'' on the property.
Following the morning riding session, campers will put their ponies away and enjoy a fun activity or game alongside with some snacks. For example, we will learn the parts of the horse, parts of the tack we use, grooming skills, horse feeding and care, and much more. We may even decorate our ponies with ribbons and sparkles! Barn chores and care of the horses are just as important as riding. Once they are done with that, they are going to enjoy lunch together. If your child is returned to you in need of a bath, then you know your child has had a great day!

WHAT TO EXPECT
The first class topic is Horse Behavior:
The kids will learn how to read the horse's behavior and how to respond to it.
We will also work on guiding a horse through a relatively complicated obstacle course in the arena.
The second class topic is Horse Health:
We will talk about common health issues that can occur and tap into horse nutrition. It’s important for the kids to read the signs of a sick horse in order to take action or call the veterinarian.

The third class topic is Saddles and Tack:
We will talk about the different saddles, bridles, bits, boots and leg wraps. And how to properly fit them to each individual horse.
After this class every student should be an absolute professional when it comes to tacking up their horse.

The fourth class topic is Grooming and General Horse Care:
We will teach the kids intensively how to clean a horse, how to cut the mane, tail & fetlocks and how to braid. We will also talk about the different body parts and how to properly care for each body part, for example hoof care.
